Our church is a congregation of people of all ages who support each other in the search for a better understanding of the Unitarian ideals of freedom, tolerance and reason. In our spiritual quest we respect and willingly explore all religious heritages and all sources of wisdom , believing all contain truths from which we may learn.

The motto of the Melbourne Unitarian church is ''Seek the Truth and Serve Humanity''. Unitarians in Melbourne have tried to 'serve humanity' by being active in the Peace Movement and in other issues of social concern such as the anti-Vietnam War Campaign, opposition to the testing of nuclear bombs, Civil Rights, the protection of state education, the movement against fascism, support for public enterprise, Aboriginal Land Rights, opposition to fundamental religions, etc.

The Sydney congregation was founded in 1850. Services are held weekly.
